ABOUT

Tevince Andur, Guadalajara, Mexico 2023

Tevince Andur’s art is a window into a deeply introspective and imaginative world. Growing up surrounded by artists, classical and medieval music, architecture books, and musical instruments, he found an early connection to creativity. His childhood was spent creating elaborate imaginary realms—worlds that felt alive and offered him insights into his own mind. This introspective nature laid the foundation for his work today, which often explores the mysterious interplay between the conscious and subconscious.

Tevince’s father, an architect and skilled artist, introduced him to the fundamentals of drawing, perspective, and design. Although he briefly attended art school, Tevince found the rigid academic structure at odds with his creative spirit. Choosing instead to seek out mentorship from local artists, he embraced a more personal and exploratory path, complemented by his study of old art treaties and the techniques of the old masters.

His work, which he describes as surrealism or oniric art, draws heavily from his own dreams and visions. Through word of mouth, his unique approach to oil portraiture gained international attention, resulting in commissions from private collectors in Italy, France, Canada, Germany, and the United States. Though his work largely remains in private collections, it resonates globally, capturing the struggles of the soul, the pain of consciousness, and the awe at life’s profound mysteries.

Teaching became a natural extension of his journey. After years of refining his own techniques, Tevince discovered a passion for sharing his knowledge. His teaching style focuses on guiding students through their own projects while weaving in theory as it applies, creating a living, hands-on learning experience. He values small groups, where he can deeply engage with each student’s work and provide tailored guidance.

Looking ahead, Tevince plans to delve further into painting series based on the dream worlds he has encountered throughout his life. Each piece is a personal offering—an exploration of the subconscious that invites viewers to reflect on their own inner landscapes.
